Yummy!

This morning Natalie got her first taste of real food. (That is if you count rice cereal as 'real food'!) We're not sure what she thought...check it out for yourself!

New Toys

  Over the past few weeks we have broken out some new toys for Natalie.  It is amazing how quickly she is growing!  She seems to love them all and they certainly help to add some more variety to our day.

Big Move

The time had come and I gave in ... FINALLY according to Gary.  Up until Sunday night, Natalie was sleeping in her Pack-n-play in our room.  I wanted to keep her in our room until 4 months or so, plus it was just easier with feedings in the middle of the night.  But the other night Sasha woke Nat up at 2 in the morning. I was not a happy camper and suggested Sasha sleep elsewhere but we all knew that was not going to happen. Gary recommended that I take this as a sign that it was time for Natalie to move to her own crib.  In general it has gone well, not perfect but pretty good.  The heat wave we had last night certainly did not help!!!  I have been afraid to take a picture at night for fear of waking her up so I just snapped one on my phone this morning.  Notice she is with out a swaddle as well- that is because I walked in and found it around her ankles so I decided to try with out it- so far so good.

WE ARE ... Penn State

Natalie took her first trip to State College this past weekend.  We unfortunately did not go to the game (I could not imagine taking Natalie to a game at her age) but we did get part of the Penn State experience.  Gary and I strapped Nat in the Bjorn and headed downtown.  Our main goal was to get Natalie some Penn State gear and see how downtown had changed in the *cough* past 6 years.  6 years, do you believe that.  We felt really old walking around with all the students, especially with Natalie strapped to me.  It was nice to be back and we were successful in purchasing Natalie some pink Penn State gear (you will have to wait till the spring for pictures though).  She fell asleep in her Bjorn as we were walking and I swear people were staring wondering if she was dead.

Easter Bunny

So I came home from the Carter's outlet (I go there too often) and was so excited.  I found a warm onsie jacket thing (I don't know what they are called) for Natalie for this winter.  I thought it was the cutest thing and I got a great deal on it so I was very excited.  Gary gets home, takes one look at it and starts laughing.  Then he proceeds to say "she'll look like a derranged Easter Bunny" and "It looks like a pink nightmare."  I, who am horrible with quotes and scenes from movies, have no idea what he is talking about and am on the brink of becoming furious.  Then he mentions Ralphie and the Christmas Story and it all clicks.  I am not going to be able to put Nat in this jacket without thinking about this now.  Oh well, I still think it's cute and that she will be adorable in it!!

Apple Picking

Natalie and I went apple picking with PIM (Partners in Medicine) Playgroup.  We had a great time and got a LOT of good apples (still not sure what I am going to do with them all)!!  The Bjorn worked great- Natalie just loves being in it but it made apple picking a little challenging.  I had to find trees with apples out on the outside branches so Natalie didn't get poked.  We managed.  Now off to go make some apple dumplings- sooooo yummy!

Babies Galore

In the past two weeks almost every pregnant friend of ours has had their baby (whether they were due or not). Fortunately everyone is doing great, all babies as well as all Moms & Dads. Here is a list of the little ones first and middle names and the info I can remember.

Taylor Reese (Jim & Courtney). Jim is a co-resident of Gary's.  Taylor was born on September 2nd and was 7 pounds 15 ounces and 20.5 inches long.

Keilani Summer (Lauren & Drew). I work with Lauren at LOA.  Keilani came three weeks early and was 6 lbs 5 ounces and 21 inches long.  Keilani was born September 5th (I'm almost certain).

Analiese (sp?) Jade (Chelsea & Andy).  This is a couple from our church back home, Analiese is their second daughter.

Cooper Mason (Amber & Frank).  I work with Amber in the OR.  Amber is one of the few first time mom's who actually has their baby on their due date, September 8th.

Baby Girl (Dan and Andrea).  This pretty little girl is yet to be named (I think they were down to 8-10 names when I visited them in the hospital on Sunday).  Baby was born almost 5 weeks early and weighed 5 pounds 6 ounces and 19 inches.  Dan & Andrea have one other daughter, Vanessa who is 4 years old and is going to be a great big sister.  Their little girl was born on September 11th.

So as you can see, babies galore (and a lot of girls!!!!)  More friends for Natalie, I see a lot of play dates in our future.  Gary, Natalie and I can not wait to meet all of these little ones and we wish the parents all the best of luck, enjoy ever minute with them!  Babies truly are a blessing.

Surprise...teeth

So for the past two weeks Gary and I have been baffled. Natalie went from sleeping through the night to getting up at least once a night and often more (one night four times).  She also began to drool about three weeks ago which was new for her.  I believe when she started to drool I even joking said maybe she teething.  But I laughed and thought what three month old gets teeth already.  I googled it of course and it said some infants will get teeth as early as three months but it is usually more like six months so we just wrote off the drooling.  Then last weekend she "found" her thumb.  Ever since she was born she would "eat" her hand but it suddenly became constant  and she also started to suck just her thumb.  Here are a few pics from this week (it was hard to get a picture without her hand in her mouth).

 Than on Thursday when Gary got home he asked me what happened to Nat's hand.  I had not even noticed it.  Sorry kind of hard to see but she had scratch marks all over the back of her thumb.

We felt all around her mouth not knowing what else the marks could be from. Ta-dah a tooth was coming in. Her bottom right front tooth- mystery solved. My three month old is cutting teeth. I think the bottom front left will soon pierce her gums as well. Poor Natalie. She is so young that she can't really hold a teething ring herself.  So this is how we are spending a good portion of our day.

As soon as we can snap a picture of the tooth we will. It's a struggle right now for us even to get a glimpse of it.  And these teeth seem to be making her even more ready for solid foods!!!  Two more weeks, I can't wait.  And as for Gary and I, well, we are just praying once the two teeth are in she goes back to sleeping through the night.  Time will tell.
