Week 20- HALF WAY!!!

We are offically over the half way mark.  Not that things have been difficult but lately I feel like May can't come quick enough.  I am just so excited to meet and hold our little one.  As I am sitting here writing he or she is kicking up a storm.  It is amazing how one day you feel nothing and the next you are feeling the baby move all the time.  It is the most amazing feeling.  And fortunately Gary has been able to feel the baby moving as well.

The baby is comparable in size (or diameter) to a cantaloupe this week.  Is seems like our little one is getting much larger lately!  So far the measurements have been from head to bottom.  After 20 weeks they switch over to measuring from head to toe (the baby is starting to stretch their legs out making it easier to measure their full length now).  Therefore this week the baby is about 6.5 inches long but next week their measurement will jump to 10.5 inches.

The baby is busy swallowing amniotic fluid these days- which is acting as practice for their digestive tract.  They are also starting to produce meconium which they will kindly keep stored up for us until their first dirty diaper (or hopefully so).  Their genitals are also now fully formed.  I can't say that one way or the other I have a feeling as to whether we are having a little boy or girl.  Initially I thought it was a little girl, while Gary thought it was a little boy.  He still thinks we are having a boy, while depending on the day I will accidently say he or she.  Who knows- time will tell!

This past weekend Gary and I continued with our first step towards getting the nursery ready.  The support beams are up for the shelves, and everything will get painted tomorrow.  On Wednesday Mom and Dad are bring the shelves up and we hope to have them painted and installed by the weekend.  Gary has been hard at work and doing such a great job.  He wouldn't let me take many pictures but at least I got one!!

Here is the week 20 belly shot- it would be great if my belly was half as large as it is going to get since I am half way- but I some how doubt that!  Hope everyone has a great week- hopefully we will get a little bit warmer weather later this week.

We have been blessed with the sweetest little girl who is excited to be a big sister any day now. Gary is still trucking through his second year of residency and I am fortunate enough to be staying home with our little ones.
