But with that being said- that isn't even our BIG news of the week. I am almost certain that today was the first day I felt our little one move. It took a dental chair and a hygienist cleaning my teeth to get me to sit still and concentrate on what I was feeling. I was essentially lying on my back still for 45 minutes and felt our little one kicking around about 20 times. At first I wasn't sure what it was but it persisted and felt like something different, something I never felt before. You can bet that I will now be lying on my back for a little each day just to feel our little one moving.
Our baby is about the size of a mango this week. Pretty soon the "food comparisons" only change on a monthly basis instead of every week, I know that disappoints everyone greatly. Our little ones brain is now designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision and touch. Some believe that the baby can now hear our voices. Hair is beginning to spout on their scalp and a waxy protective coating, called vernix caseosa, is forming to help protect the babies skin from the amniotic fluid.
Gary and I have had a rather busy week thus far. We have recently realized that we needed to make a few changes to our home to get ready for the baby- mainly added storage. Therefore our closets are torn apart and their contents are all over our house. That is our first step towards getting the nursery ready, so hopefully we will get it done soon and we can start decorating!!! Gary left today for 2 more interviews in Ohio, hopefully some of his last interviews. Sasha has finally recovered from all of her travels over the holidays. She sleeps for days straight after visiting with her cousin Bailey. This is a picture of Sasha in one of our car rides over the holidays.
Hope everyone is doing well and managing to stay warm in this frigid weather. We came home on Sunday to find one of our master bathroom pipes frozen- fortunately a hair dryer and space heater solved the problem with no burst pipes. It just shows how cold it has been and how our bathroom needs more insulation!! Happy New Year everyone!!!

I like mangos!
ReplyDeleteNow the excitement begins! In another couple of months you will wish the baby will stay still. Sasha looks all tired out in that picture.
