Just a quick update for those that have not heard. I was just discharged from the hospital after a 24 hour observation period. I unfortunately (in my pregnancy clumsiness) tripped on a curb yesterday and fell coming down onto my elbows and my abdomen. Since I landed on my stomach I had to be evaluated up on labor and delivery and while being observed, initially for only 6 hours, I was having frequent contractions (every 3 to 4 minutes). My cervix also dilated some while I was there so I was considered in preterm labor. Fortunately throughout the whole 24 hours I had a wonderfully happy and active baby and the doctors, as well as Gary and I, were not concerned at all. Contractions persisted all day yesterday but overnight while sleeping they did decrease and almost subside. They resumed as soon as I got up but fortunately I did not dilate any further. They did slow up again later in the morning. Fortunately none of the contractions were painful just slightly uncomfortable. After discussing it with the doctors they do not feel any of this was really brought on by the fall. I have been having contractions for a little over 2 weeks now, just more intermittent. They believe that these are my baseline contractions and we just happened to pick them up cause I was on the monitor. Therefore I was able to go home!!!! It was wonderful news. The doctor said I could really have this baby at any point from tonight till 41 weeks (but she highly doubts I will make it to my due date!!!) She said she would just like to see me make it till 37 weeks which is Saturday. I am fortunately not on any restrictions either and can return to work tomorrow. We really appreciate all the calls, texts, messages, prayers etc from everyone over the last 24 hours. Everything turned out just how we were hoping! We are now home just trying to get all the last minute things done and ready in case this baby does come soon. Thanks again. Here is the one picture I let Gary take while in the hospital. Lets just say I don't like being on the other side and being the "patient." Fortunately I had a wonderful caretaker (Gary) who really did everything for me since I could not.
