Week 38

Well all my worries about going into labor right before or during graduation were fortunately for nothing!!  We made it through and had a wonderful weekend of celebrating.  I am so proud of Gary or should I say Dr. Updegrove!  He worked so hard the past four years and now has his degree and his top choice of residency to prove it.  Instead of writing more about graduation I will post a few pictures.  These were all taken on our new camera which I am in love with.  I didn't touch it for the first two weeks cause it was so intimidating to me.  But I must admit I am really starting to figure it out and love using it.

And now on to the pregnancy.  More exciting news!  I had another doctors appointment today and we have progressed a little further.  I am now 4 cm dilated and almost fully effaced (90-95%) with the baby still at a +1 station.  Obviously one can never predict when the baby will arrive but our provider stated that she would be surprised if I make it till my next appointment (which is in a week).   We are hoping that since I am already 4 cm, labor may progress a little quicker than a typical first delivery.   I look at it as 4 centimeters down pain-free, only 6 more to go (I am guessing they will not be pain-free though).  We are very excited at this point...I think I may have trouble sleeping not cause of being uncomfortable or having to get up to go to the bathroom frequently but because I can't wait to meet our little one.  The baby is approximately 6.8 pounds and 19.5 inches long at this point in time with mature organs that are ready for the outside world!  He or she has a nice strong grasp that hopefully in the next week (or two) Gary and I will be able to appreciate.   Here is my belly shot for this week (maybe it will be my last!!!)

Hope you are all having a great week.  We will be sure to keep you up to date of any changes!

  2. Congratulations to the two of you as well (Dan's graduation is this weekend right?) It is such an accomplishment for the guys! And thanks, you are more to welcome to borrow the dress if you would like- I think maternity dresses are hard to find. I hear you are headed on a cruise soon-have a great time if we don't see you before then. Looking forward to June and having new neighbors!!

We have been blessed with the sweetest little girl who is excited to be a big sister any day now. Gary is still trucking through his second year of residency and I am fortunate enough to be staying home with our little ones.
