Week 6

Week 6!  We have now known for 2 weeks that I am pregnant- it is so hard to keep this quiet.  I find myself multiple times throughout the day just wanting to tell someone because I am so overjoyed.  I know for our sake and for my sanity it is best to wait till I get through my first trimester, so another 6-7 weeks!  I can't wait for Thanksgiving!!!

Ok so update on Baby Updegrove's size this week.  Their little ears, nose and mouth are beginning to form.  Wonder what combination of Gary and I our little one will be?  His or her brains, muscles and bones are starting to form as well as their digestive tract.  The lungs are just beginning to differentiate.    He/she is the size of a lentil bean this week.   I think that their size looks considerably larger than last week!!

This morning I just did my first 5K with the baby.  The race benefited muscular dystrophy.  I ran/walked it with a few ladies from my office (they were on my "training program".)  They did great and I am very proud of them.   Tomorrow Gary leaves for Honduras for two weeks with CURE International.  He is headed down to a pediatric orthopaedics hospital in San Pedro Sula.  We are both very excited for his trip.  I can say that it will certainly be a long two weeks though.  Fortunately Sasha will be here with me and hopefully I will get to spend some more time with my friends here in Hershey.

So far I have been feeling great.  I am reading blogs, books etc that are saying how tired and nauseous some people feel at this point but I must say that I am feeling great.  I just keep hoping and praying that it stay this way.  I purchased my first maternity clothes this week but hope I have another month or two before I need them.  I guess time will tell.  Hope everyone has a great week.  Please keep Gary in your prayers as he is traveling and working down in Honduras, particularly for a safe return home in that there is some political issues in Honduras currently.

  1. So long as he stays out of Tegucigalpa, he should be ok. See http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=113292623 .

We have been blessed with the sweetest little girl who is excited to be a big sister any day now. Gary is still trucking through his second year of residency and I am fortunate enough to be staying home with our little ones.
