Week 16

Well over the past week or two I feel like I have finally started to look pregnant.  There are now pants that I had to put in the back of the closet.  Unfortunately I am at an awkward stage where some regular clothes just feel a little too tight and maternity clothes are still too big!  I am sure time will fix that problem.  Otherwise Gary and I have been doing rather well.  We have been staying busy trying to get ready for Christmas as well as moving forward with his interview process.  For the next few days he is actually out of town interviewing at Geisinger, Robert Wood (in New Jersey) then in Rochester.  So far he has enjoyed getting out and seeing other programs and cities but we would still LOVE to stay at Hershey.  We find out March 18th where he matches for residency- I am not sure how I am going to make it until then!  Please keep up in your thoughts and prayers as there is a lot of uncertainty and unease associated with the residency match process.

So week 16.  The baby is the length of an avocado this week- approximately 4.6 inches.  The baby will do a lot of growing over the next few weeks doubling their weight and adding inches to their length.

The bones in our little ones ears are now forming so they are starting to be able to hear sounds and our voices.  Their eyes are moving more towards the front of their head (closer to their final position) and their ears are almost at their final position as well.  Tiny toenails are beginning to form.  Our little avocados heart is pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day.  I am still waiting to feel the first movements- it is not uncommon for first time moms not to feel their  baby kicking until around 18-20 weeks.  It is hard to even fathom what it will feel like but I hear it is just the best feeling in the world.

Well I best get back to some Christmas shopping- only a few more shipping days left.  Hope most are further along in their shopping process than we are.  The person I am having the most trouble shopping for this year is Gary!!  I better figure something out soon.  Hope everyone is having a great holiday season!

We have been blessed with the sweetest little girl who is excited to be a big sister any day now. Gary is still trucking through his second year of residency and I am fortunate enough to be staying home with our little ones.
