Week 17

Hope everyone on the east coast is slowly digging themselves out of the snow this morning.  We got about 8 inches here in Hershey but it sounds as if those further east got hit a little harder.  Sasha and I enjoyed a nice quiet day at home watching Christmas movies and catching up on a few things around the house.   Gary was up interviewing in Rochester, NY and fortunately did manage to make it home last night.  We, like many others surely do, have a very busy week with a lot of traveling ahead.  I took the whole week off and Gary and I are hoping to accomplish a few things in preparation for the baby.  We are going to look at day cares on Tuesday, hopefully going crib shopping, and may even get around to starting our registry (I think I am being a little optimistic).  We are also very excited for our ultrasound which is just over a week away.

Unfortunately the baby is compared to either a turnip or an onion this week (not very pleasant).   I went with the onion- I would say it is the lesser of two evils.

This weeks primary development is exciting to both Gary and I - the babies skeleton is forming!  More accurately, their soft cartilage is now forming into harder bone.  The other major change is that their umbilical cord is thickening and becoming stronger.  Our little one should now be over 5 inches long.

I broke down again this week and bought more baby clothes- probably against Gary's desires.  I just keep buying both boys and girls clothes in that we don't and will not know what we are having.  I have decided Gary will not be the one picking out the children's' clothes.  I bought home a very pretty pink SHIRT which he thought for over a day was a dress that "their diaper will be hanging out of."  You just have to love men.

Well I hope everyone has a great week and a very Merry Christmas.  We wish you and your family the very best and safe travels.

Sorry this is not the best lighting, we actually took a picture when it was light out for once.  Also I am now realizing how difficult it is to stand there naturally when you know someone is taking a picture of essentially your belly - not really that fun.  Sorry for the horrible shots!!

We have been blessed with the sweetest little girl who is excited to be a big sister any day now. Gary is still trucking through his second year of residency and I am fortunate enough to be staying home with our little ones.
